( Last Update: 4th Jan 19). I'm about 95% sure this is a fake.
The stitching on the handles in the second picture isn't even, and the stitching in the third picture doesn't look like clean stitches. For a brand that has bags that retail for $1000+ you should expect absolutely perfect stitching. Differential and integral calculus 6th edition by love and rainville pdf downlo. And even after a great deal of use, it shouldn't be that messy. In the 4th picture, if you notice the tag on the inside that says Chloe, it looks like a flap, and is only stitched on the top.
All the Chloe bags I've seen have the tag fully stitched in. Does it have a serial number somewhere on the inside? The serial number would appear as such: XX-XX-XX (where the X's are numbers). However, even some fakes go so far as to have fake serial numbers. 100% Chinatown sew-the-impostor-tag-on-after-import fake. That's some really low-end stitching. OP, if you are going to get into handbags, I would take a day trip to Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave, or Bloomingdales, and look at the purses there to get a feel.
There are a lot of guides of popular fakes for each designer, but 90% of the junk I've run into is easy to spot purely on the basis of craftsmanship. Real designer bags worth spending money on have even, hand stitching, their logos aren't glued on or off-center, their name is often imprinted somewhere in metalwork (zipper, hinges, buckles), they don't use low-quality generic zippers.
The leather is usually buttery and never squeaky like plastic. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. I occasionally run into a legitimate Kate Spade or Michael Kors bag that breaks these rules, but those are designers that gave up exclusivity to go after the outlet market, and probably not worth your time anyway. Coach, too, has a lot of cheap ugly bags flooding the market alongside their higher-but-still-middle-end leather bags.
But that's why I mention a store like Saks. They will usually only sell the good stuff.
Aim for that quality.
Just soliciting some thoughts about the wisdom of buying a designer bag on ebay. I've been lusting after the Chloe Marcie bag (in black) for some time and the only thing preventing me from pulling the trigger is the price point. I found one on ebay which claims to be new with tags (and authenticity cards) for about 30% off the retail price. Plus, no sales tax. This would make it more palatable, financially, but I don't want to be falling for a scam. I've purchased on ebay before, certainly, but never a designer item.
Anyone have thoughts in this area? Here's a pic of the bag (in blue). I have been at the receiving end of a fake Kate Spade bag and fake premium jeans from ebay. This was many years ago so I don't know if ebay has gotten more diligent about that sort of stuff, but I have become more educated a about spotting fakes so while I still look for higher end items, I use a LOT of diligence.
The woman who sold me the bag was genuinely unaware that it was a fake and refunded the money immediately, but the jeans? Despite filing a dispute, I never saw my money again. And for what it's worth, the sellers who I have found peddling fakes, including the one I bought from, were all power sellers with spotless feedback. If a seller has 10 negative feedback reviews out of thousands, they still register as 100%, and those negative reviews are usually the most telling (though good luck finding them).
